The following documentation is a clip from Readme.txt which
is bundled with the Keynote Gold speech synthesizer.

The control file KEYNOTE.INI now follows the Windows(tm) INI-file
format. The [SSIL] section contains settings for the Keynote GOLD
SSIL driver. An example KEYNOTE.INI is included on the Keynote SSIL
driver disk.

The SSIL driver searches for KEYNOTE.INI first in the same directory
as KEYNOTE.DLL, then in the Windows(tm) directory. If KEYNOTE.INI is
placed in the same directory as KEYNOTE.DLL, it is private to that
copy of the SSIL driver. If it is placed in the Windows(tm) directory,
it can be shared by all copies of the SSIL driver and by all Keynote
GOLD products. In the latter case, take care not to delete any other
sections in KEYNOTE.INI when adding or modifying the [SSIL] section.

(i) Default Language.
You can specify a default language for your SSIL application that is
different to the synthesizer default language. The control file
KEYNOTE.INI selects the default language for SSIL to use.
To set the default language, enter a line in the [SSIL] section of
KEYNOTE.INI as follows.

     DefaultLanguage=English

To use another language, change "English" to either Dutch, French,
German, Italian, or Spanish. You may also use the short forms dut,
eng, frn, grm, itl, or spn.

(ii) Synthesizer Type.
If the SSIL driver does not find your Keynote GOLD synthesizer
correctly, or takes a long time to do so, you can specify in the
INI file which Keynote GOLD synthesizer the SSIL driver should use.
The example KEYNOTE.INI file gives details.

(iii) Synthesizer Initialization options.
The SSIL driver can initialize the Keynote GOLD synthesizer with
options specified in the [SSIL] section of the INI file. The
example KEYNOTE.INI file gives details.
